FX TCA Summer 2022 Reel - “That Curtain”

This was the third TCA Reel that I cut for FX Networks, and the first piece I cut and produced at Project X/AV. Each of these TCA Reels is so special to me because they blend so many different series together, and carving out that central theme and unified voice takes so much work and requires such attention to detail to keep shots and bites organized. I’ve been grateful to work so closely with so many creative individuals on all of the FX spots.

The Washington Post - Brand Spots

These are two branding spots that I helped create to help The Washington Post revitalize its image, enhance its relevance, and attract a wider audience. I worked closely with the motion graphics team and the music department to develop the look and tone of this campaign and establish a cohesive brand experience. Each spot highlights one topic and introduces the viewer to the reporters at The Washington Post who bring these stories, and others like them, to light. In a rapidly evolving media landscape, rebranding becomes essential for news organizations to stay competitive, adapt to changing consumer preferences, and maintain trust and credibility and I was excited to be a part of it.

Angel City, Season 1 - “Wings” Trailer

I was very excited to cut this trailer, and work with solid clients. I love this story and everything this team represents to the community. I’m proud of this piece and couldn’t think of a better place to have a majority female-owned NWSL team than Angel City.

The Other Two, Season 3 - “Change” Trailer

I was unfamiliar with this show until I started watching footage for this trailer, but once I did, I immediately had to go back and watch the previous seasons since it was so well written and so funny. The most fun was trying to see how far we could push things.

Welcome to Wrexham, Season 1 - “Story”

This was a piece that I produced at Project X/AV. I love Ryan and Rob, so when I was asked if I wanted to cut on the Welcome to Wrexham campaign, I was very excited. Since we were already working on the TCA Summer Reel, I enlisted the editorial help of Matthew Zuckerman and this spot was born.

FX on HULU - “The Future” Branding Trailer

This was a spot I cut and produced at Buddha Jones that launched an entire brand campaign for FX’s debut under the Hulu banner. FX asked for something they’d never seen before, and that was music to my ears. This spot also set the stage for several other FXOH spots that won a variety of other awards. Nearly 70 spots cut and produced and 2 years later, it’s still one of my favorites.

The One and Only Dick Gregory - "One and Only" Trailer

I worked with a good friend of mine, Garrett Wagner on this trailer after all of the work we did together while he was at FX Networks. The story of Dick Gregory has so many layers and touched so many people over so many years, that it was difficult yet so important to get his legacy into one piece.

The Mayor Of Kingstown, Season 1 - "The Real Mayor" Trailer #1

I cut this trailer for Paramount+. This was yet another striking example of a main character from Taylor Sheridan, that displays the seeds of both good and evil within themselves. For me, it’s that revelation that makes fantastically compelling drama.

Rellik, Season 1 - “What You Deserve” Trailer

This is a trailer I cut for Cinemax's recently acquired show, Rellik. I love shows like this. The most challenging part was trying to show the manipulation of time and temporal displacement and not make it seem like the detective had magical powers.

Legion, Season 1 - “Crazy” Trailer

Legion was a fun series to work on. I cut and produced so many spots for this wild, mind-bending campaign. This marked another wonderful collaboration with FX and the client was always open to everything I explored with this fun material.

ACS: The People v. OJ Simpson - “Brentwood” Trailer

I loved working on this series. With the exception of a few TV spots, I cut everything on this campaign. There was so much wonderful stuff to work with, between the excellent performances, the historical accuracy, the music, and the brilliant Ryan Murphy touches.

HBO - “Choice” Trailer

This was a piece I cut for the premiere of HBO's Sharp Objects. We discussed a multitude of themes, and ultimately I decided on the choices we make and the consequences of those choices. That theme works so well for Sharp Objects and a myriad of other HBO shows as each character wrestles with the aftermath of their actions.

Deadly Class, Season 1 - “Just Say No” Teaser

I cut several pieces for SyFy’s Deadly Class including two trailers, but this was my favorite. Once the idea to grid a spot with the former First Lady’s famous speech was proposed, I was excited to dive in and explore all the 80’s nostalgia that came with it.

The Wizard of Lies - “Building” Teaser

This was the first piece I ever cut at Buddha Jones. I was told they already had a story teaser, so this was an opportunity to give the client something unexpected. As I watched DeNiro’s performance of Bernie Madoff, the first thing I thought of was Tom Waits’ song “Building”. I felt the parallels were too similar to be denied. Of course, I didn’t know that Tom Waits never licensed his music for marketing, so the spot died at V1. Luckily, Promax has a category for best work never seen.

Jack Ryan, Season 2 - “Business” TV30

It’s hard for me to see John Krasinski as anyone other than Jim Halpert, but his role as Jack Ryan provides a lot of exciting scenes to spin into solid creative, and riveting sequences.

IFC Volkswagen - “Reggie Riffs” TV60

It was a lot of fun being able to try and top myself creatively because the director was very open to exploring new ideas with this piece. It was the first thing I cut at Bacon & Sons Film Company and my main direction once the dailies came in was “Do whatever you want.”

IFC MOTOX - “Reggie Riffs” TV30

This was yet another amazing piece in the “Reggie Riffs” family that I worked on. There was so much great stuff of Reggie Watts improvising that it became quite a challenge to select only the best moments.
